Changing the toner in your Brother printer
The Brother toner cartridges are made to be used in a number of printers marketed by the printer manufacturers. Each cartridge carries a finely powdered toner, which these printers utilize instead of conventional ink. The toner imprints the messages users give commands for. The printed message is then made permanent by passing the paper through heat. Although Brother toners usually last for a good amount of time, many users feel challenged when the time comes to replace their printer toner. However, this is a fairly easy job if done carefully since the toner can spill and ruin clothes or skin.
Important Precautions To Remember:
Users should make sure that there are no flammable materials or substances present in or around the printer before they start changing the toner. Taking this precaution is necessary because if the toner comes in contact with a flammable substance, it can cause electric shocks or fire. Moreover, Brother printers are only compatible with the toners made by the parent company. It is advisable not to take a risk by purchasing toners of any other brand due to compatibility issues.
How To Change Toner In Brother Printer:
- It is important to let the printing device cool down before users attempt to change the toner. Therefore, the printer should be turned off for a while so that it can come to its normal temperature. In the meanwhile, users should arrange for a few sheets of paper where they would be placing the old toner cartridge while replacing it with the new one.
- Next, the printer’s front flap should be opened. Every Brother printer comes with a set of easy instructions when it comes to opening the device. Once the flap is lifted, users should search for the lifters with which the printer’s drum unit can be taken out. Once the drum is pulled out, it should be placed on the paper sheets. The used toner container can be removed from the drum at this stage.
- Users can then unpack the new Brother toner cartridge and shake it slowly so that the toner is evenly spread out throughout the container. After discarding the new cartridge’s plastic covering, users should put it into the same chamber where the old cartridge was taken out from. The cartridge may have to be pressed a bit for it to get fixed inside the drum. If the printer is colored, the users should ensure that they are placing the correct colored cartridge in the corresponding printer slot.
- The drum can then be replaced in the same place where it was taken out from inside the printer. Once the drum is safely back in its place and fixed, the Brother printing device’s front flap should be closed. The printer can now be switched on and brought into use again.
The users should make sure that the used toner cartridge is safely discarded by putting it inside the same box as the new cartridge and throwing it into the trash, without spilling remnants of the used toner.
